Attending the Future We Want MUN in New York was not just an unforgettable experience—it was truly transformative. Representing Panama as a Delegate Ambassador at the iconic United Nations Headquarters, engaging with peers from more than 140 countries, and discussing global issues with a level of professionalism that mirrored actual diplomatic negotiations were moments that I will cherish forever.
A Journey of Excellence
From the very start, the Secretariat’s dedication and professionalism ensured an unparalleled experience. The registration and preparation phases were handled with exceptional precision. The training sessions and study materials were not only comprehensive but also inspiring, setting the stage for a well-organized and impactful conference. I can confidently say that the Secretariat’s commitment to excellence made this MUN a standout among others.
The SOCHUM Committee
As part of the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM), I experienced debates of the highest caliber. The chairs were outstanding—not only in their knowledge but also in their ability to create a collaborative yet challenging environment. They encouraged every delegate to delve deep into their research, articulate their positions clearly, and work towards resolutions that reflected creativity and consensus. This committee was a true masterclass in diplomacy.
Unforgettable Highlights
The emotional depth of the We the Peoples Festival was unmatched. Standing among delegates from all corners of the globe, draped in the Panamanian flag, I felt a profound sense of pride and belonging. The celebration of cultural diversity—through music, dance, and shared stories in the very heart ofo Times Square—brought home the importance of unity in our differences.
Equally memorable was the Delegate Dance, where diplomacy took a back seat for a night of fun and friendship. Dancing alongside delegates from India to Bollywood hits was a hilarious and heartwarming experience, one that showcased the lighter side of international camaraderie.
The Closing Ceremony brought tears to my eyes. Being awarded the Best Diplomacy Award was a moment of immense pride, but the real reward was the journey—the friendships, the learning, and the growth. It was a bittersweet farewell, knowing that this extraordinary week had come to an end.
